The unveiling of Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet at The Game Awards generated immediate buzz, but this quickly morphed into widespread criticism.

The controversy stemmed from the game's protagonist and thematic elements, which some viewers deemed to promote a specific "agenda."

Statements from Neil Druckmann and Tati Gabriel, intended to quell the backlash, only intensified the debate.

Even after 17 days, the negative reaction persists. The announcement trailer garnered a significant number of dislikes on YouTube; over 260,000 on the official PlayStation channel (compared to 90,000 likes), and over 170,000 dislikes versus 70,000 likes on Naughty Dog's channel. Comments were subsequently disabled, yet the online discussion continues across various social media platforms.

However, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet's future remains uncertain. Naughty Dog has a history of transforming initial negativity into triumph, suggesting a potential turnaround.

This incident underscores a key challenge for major game studios: navigating the expectations of an increasingly discerning and vocal audience.
