Jack Quaid Eager for Bioshock Movie Role Amid Novocaine Comparisons to Max Payne
Jack Quaid, known for his role in "The Boys," has expressed his enthusiasm for appearing in a potential BioShock movie, citing the game as one of his all-time favorites. During a Reddit AMA promoting his new film, Novocaine, Quaid highlighted the rich lore of BioShock, suggesting it could be effectively adapted into a TV or movie format. "I would actually love to be in a live action adaptation of Bioshock - one of my favorite games of all time," he stated. "I think there's such a rich lore to that game that could be explored in a TV or movie adaptation."
The possibility of a BioShock movie becoming a reality remains uncertain. Last July, producer Roy Lee mentioned that the project had undergone a "reconfiguration" due to leadership changes at Netflix, aiming for a more personal narrative. This shift was influenced by budget cuts, as Lee explained, "The new regime has lowered the budgets. So we’re doing a much smaller version. It’s going to be a more personal point of view, as opposed to a grander, big project." Despite these changes, Francis Lawrence, known for directing The Hunger Games, remains attached to direct the film.
Quaid's interest in BioShock also led to discussions about his resemblance to Max Payne, a character from another iconic video game series. Fans have noted similarities between Quaid and Max Payne, especially in promotional material for Novocaine, leading to speculation about a potential Max Payne movie. However, Quaid admitted he is less familiar with Max Payne, stating, "I've seen people say that I look like Max Payne, and when I've looked at the box art, even I did a double-take. I love Rockstar's games, but unfortunately I've never played that one - it's next on the list, for sure."
Beyond BioShock, Quaid revealed his passion for FromSoftware games, particularly enjoying the challenging nature of titles like Bloodborne, Sekiro, and Elden Ring. "I'm a huge video game nerd," he shared. "And lately I've been diving headfirst into the FromSoftware library. I beat Bloodborne, then I beat Sekiro, and now I'm going full boar into Elden Ring. Actually, the thing I use Reddit the most for is tips and tricks on beating Fromsoft's bosses. I love how challenging the games are - it took me a while to get into them, but now I'm obsessed."
