Though Thailand may be a world away from the magical halls of Hogwarts, Jason Isaacs, star of The White Lotus Season 3, has shared his intriguing thoughts on who should succeed him as Lucius Malfoy in HBO's much-anticipated Harry Potter TV series. In a recent interview with Variety, Isaacs playfully suggested none other than the legendary Meryl Streep for the role. "She can do anything, that woman. There’s literally no limit to what she can do," he remarked, highlighting Streep's versatility. Notably, Streep has previously portrayed a male character in the HBO miniseries adaptation of the epic play, Angels in America, demonstrating her range and ability to convincingly take on diverse roles.

Despite his endorsement, Isaacs humorously declined to offer any advice to Streep or any future Lucius Malfoy. "I wouldn’t have any advice at all. Why would I bother?" he quipped, expressing confidence in the new cast. "I know some of the people they’re casting already. They’re brilliant actors. It’s going to be fantastic, and the last thing they need is advice from some old fart like me."

Isaacs, who first brought Lucius Malfoy to life in the second Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and continued through to the series finale, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, remains optimistic about the new adaptation. At the time of this article's publication, John Lithgow has been confirmed to take on the iconic role of Albus Dumbledore, previously played by Richard Harris and Michael Gambon. Rumors also swirl around potential casting for Severus Snape and Minerva McGonagall, with Black Mirror's Paapa Essiedu reportedly in talks for Snape and Jessica Jones' Janet McTeer linked to McGonagall, though no official announcements have been made for these roles.
