Announced on PlayStation.Blog by Sony's VP of Product Management, Hiromi Wakai, the new PS5 beta update (rolling out today) introduces personalized 3D audio profiles, refined Remote Play settings, and adaptive controller charging.

A major highlight is the personalized 3D audio profiles for headphones and earbuds. Users can optimize their audio experience by creating profiles tailored to their hearing. Compatible devices like the Pulse Elite wireless headset and Pulse Explore wireless earbuds offer sound tests to generate custom profiles, promising a more immersive gaming experience with improved sound localization.

For users of the slim PS5 model, adaptive controller charging is included. This feature optimizes power consumption by adjusting charging based on battery level while the console rests. Enable this via [Settings] > [System] > [Power Saving] > [Features Available in Rest Mode] > [Supply Power to USB Ports] > [Adaptive]. Power to the USB port shuts off automatically after a period of inactivity.

Beta Availability and Global Rollout

Currently, the beta is limited to invited participants in select regions (U.S., Canada, Japan, U.K., Germany, and France). Sony plans a global release in the coming months. Invited users will receive email instructions on beta download and participation. Note that beta features may change or be omitted from the final release based on user feedback.
