While I'm not thrilled about the price increase between console generations, I understand that game development costs have soared. Hopefully, the expansive nature of Mario Kart World justifies the higher price tag.

What Is Mario Kart World?

Mario Kart World is set to be the most ambitious Mario Kart game to date. It introduces an open-world format reminiscent of the Forza Horizon series. In Grand Prix mode, you can seamlessly transition from the end of one race to the start of the next.

The game's tracks dynamically change with weather conditions and time of day, impacting your racing experience. You can also explore off the beaten path and drive "virtually everywhere" in the Mushroom Kingdom. Each race accommodates up to 24 drivers, a first for the series.

A new mode, Knockout Tour, challenges you to race across the open world, hitting checkpoints with specific placement requirements. Falling behind at any checkpoint results in elimination. For a more relaxed experience, Free Roam mode lets you and your friends explore at your own pace and capture memorable moments through photos.
