In Free Roam mode, when you're not engaged in racing, you can embark on a mini-adventure. The world is dotted with various hidden collectibles such as coins and ? panels, though their specific functions remain a mystery for now. Additionally, P-Switches are scattered throughout, which, when activated, trigger mini-challenges like collecting blue coins.

Free Roam mode also introduces a Photo Mode, allowing players to capture their racers in a variety of poses and angles at any time. Moreover, Free Roam isn't limited to solo play. You can explore the world with friends, take photos together, tackle challenges, or simply hang out. The mode supports up to four players in split-screen on the same system, and up to eight players in total through local wireless play, with two players per system.
