Marvel Rivals Dev Commits to Monthly Hero Releases
NetEase Games has exciting news for Marvel Rivals players: a new hero will be introduced every month and a half with the rollout of additional seasons. This announcement came from the studio's creative director, Guangyun Chen, during an interview with Metro. Chen outlined the team's ambitious post-launch strategy, committing to a new playable character every half-season, which translates to approximately every six weeks.
"Every season we'll be rolling out fresh seasonal stories, new maps, and new heroes. We'll actually be breaking down each season into two halves," Chen explained. "The length of one season is three months. And for each half of the season, we will introduce a new hero. We just eventually want to continue to enhance the experience, and, you know, keep everyone excited in our community."
This approach raises anticipation among fans, leaving them eager to discover who will be the next addition to the roster as each season concludes. Marvel Rivals Season 1: Eternal Night Falls set a strong precedent by introducing Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Woman in its first half, followed by The Thing and the Human Torch in the second half. These iconic characters from the Marvel universe have set a high bar, and maintaining that momentum will be crucial.
The game launched with an impressive lineup of heroes, including Wolverine, Magneto, Spider-Man, Jeff the Landshark, and Storm. Rumors suggest that Season 2 might see the addition of Blade, while fans are also hopeful for characters like Daredevil, Deadpool, and other members of the X-Men. Given the success Marvel Rivals has enjoyed so far, NetEase Games shows no signs of slowing down.
In addition to new heroes, Marvel Rivals Season 1 brought a series of balance changes and gameplay tweaks, with more updates promised for the future. For the latest on the game, players can explore how some are using the Invisible Woman to combat an alleged bot problem, check out the Hero Hot List, and learn about the use of mods despite the risk of bans.
