Once considered a distant dream, the possibility of Marvel Rivals making its way to the Nintendo Switch 2 is now more within reach than ever. NetEase had previously dismissed the idea of releasing the game on the original Switch due to its technical limitations. However, the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 could be the key to unlocking this potential.

During the DICE Summit, producer Weikang Wu shed light on ongoing discussions with Nintendo. The primary challenge? Ensuring that the game performs smoothly and consistently on the new console:

"The first-generation Switch simply didn’t have the power to deliver the gameplay experience we envisioned. But if the Switch 2 can handle it, we’re absolutely ready to bring the game to the platform."

Earlier, game director Thaddeus Sasser had made it clear that there were no immediate plans for a mobile version or a release on the original Switch. Should a port for the Switch 2 come to fruition, it would necessitate a custom build tailored to the new hardware’s capabilities.

With the Nintendo Switch 2 officially announced, major players in the industry are showing strong support for the platform. Phil Spencer has hinted at Xbox’s interest in bringing its titles to the system, and Electronic Arts (EA) has also expressed enthusiasm.

In the meantime, Marvel Rivals is gearing up for further expansion, with two members of the Fantastic Four set to join the fray in future updates, promising to add exciting new dynamics to the game.
