Revamped Team-Up Skills

Marvel Rivals Game Director Guangyun Chen revealed major changes to team-up skills in an interview with PC Gamer on March 14th. He stated, "Starting from Season 2, we will introduce new Team-Up skills with the seasonal update and adjust some existing ones. Together with seasonal overall balance adjustments, this will create a new combat environment and experience for the season."

Currently, the game boasts 17 team-up skills, including notable combinations like Hela's Ragnarok Rebirth, Cloak & Dagger's Lunar Force, and Allied Agents for Hawkeye and Black Widow. Balancing these skills with the expanding roster will be a significant challenge for NetEase.

Hero Balancing: A Continuous Effort

Chen also addressed the ongoing challenge of hero balancing in a growing game. He explained their approach: "First, we will closely monitor key metrics for heroes across different modes. For example, in Quick Match and Competitive Modes, we will analyze data such as win rates, pick rates, damage, healing, damage taken, and final blows for heroes at various ranks and in different tournaments. This data serves as the foundation for our balancing efforts."

He continued, emphasizing the importance of holistic analysis: "At the same time, we will analyze the composition of hero lineups and their win rates within the aforementioned modes, which will be crucial references for our overall balancing direction. Finally, we will pay close attention to the player community as one of the bases for our balancing decisions."

With a new hero planned for each half of the three-month seasons (eight new heroes annually), the balancing task will only become more complex. Chen confirmed that development is progressing smoothly, stating, "The content for Season 2 is ready and set to go. The designs for Seasons 3 and 4 have also been completed and are currently under intensive development!" This long-term commitment reflects NetEase's pledge to support Marvel Rivals for a decade and beyond.

Spider-Punk 2099 and Steam Power Iron Man Arrive March 20th

NetEase announced via the official Marvel Rivals Twitter (X) account on March 18th the arrival of highly anticipated skins for Spider-Man and Iron Man on March 20th at 7 PM PDT / 10 PM EDT / March 21st at 2:00 AM UTC. Spider-Man gets a futuristic makeover with "Spider-Punk 2099," featuring a digital mask, spiked mohawk, and electric guitar. Iron Man's "Steam Power" skin boasts a steampunk aesthetic with large exhaust pipes and a fiery furnace on his chest.

These skins, previously showcased during the closed beta, join Loki's Presidential attire as officially released content. While the release date is set, pricing details remain undisclosed.
