Marvel Rivals Season 2: Content Cut in Half

Summary

  • Marvel Rivals Season 1 boasts double the content of a typical season.
  • The decision to introduce The Fantastic Four simultaneously resulted in an extended season.
  • Season 1: Eternal Night Falls launches January 10th.

NetEase Games announced that Marvel Rivals Season 1 will be twice the size of a standard season, offering a significantly expanded experience. Standard seasons typically span three months, with a major mid-season update. Season 1: Eternal Night Falls arrives January 10th at 1 AM PST, bringing a wealth of new content.

This upcoming season introduces three new maps showcasing iconic New York City locations. The Sanctum Sanctorum debuts alongside the new Doom Match game mode. Midtown provides the backdrop for Convoy missions, demanding strategic street battles. Details on the Central Park map remain limited, with further information promised closer to the substantial mid-season update.

Marvel Rivals' Creative Director, Guangyun Chen, confirmed in a recent Dev Vision video that Season 1 contains double the usual playable content. This expanded scope stems from the decision to release The Fantastic Four as a group. Mister Fantastic (a Duelist) and Invisible Woman (a Strategist) will launch with Season 1.

Marvel Rivals Season 1: A Double-Sized Adventure

The Thing and Human Torch are slated for the mid-season update, approximately six to seven weeks after launch. While NetEase Games highlighted the season's increased size, the impact on future content additions (heroes, maps, game modes) remains unaddressed. Currently, the expectation is for two new heroes or villains per subsequent season.

While anticipation for Season 1 is high, the absence of Blade disappointed some players. Rumors of his inclusion, particularly given his potential matchup against Dracula, fueled fan excitement. However, future appearances remain a possibility. With abundant new content and ongoing speculation, the future of Marvel Rivals holds significant promise.
