Switch Shader Compilation Mode

NetEase is rolling out an innovative experimental feature in Marvel Rivals to improve stability and reduce memory consumption. Announced on April 30 via Twitter (X), the Switch Shader Compilation Mode aims to provide a smoother experience, particularly for players with lower RAM configurations or those experiencing FPS issues.

The feature is further explained in a detailed blog post on the Marvel Rivals website, where the developers address player concerns about performance stutters and crashes due to high memory usage during gameplay.

The blog states, "To tackle the issue of memory overload, we're introducing an experimental feature in Season 2: the Switch Shader Compilation Mode. Players can activate this feature through the PC launcher with the Season 2 update." It's particularly recommended for those with 16GB of RAM or less.

Upon activation, the game will see significant improvements, including:

• The shader compilation process will only occur when first launching the game after a new game version or graphics driver update.
• A substantial reduction in game memory usage, minimizing severe FPS drops, frozen visuals, and crashes due to memory shortages.

The developers have acknowledged some minor issues with the feature, such as initial abnormal rendering of some materials for a few frames at the start of each match, which will normalize shortly after. Other minor stutters may occur but will resolve during the match.

Marvel Rivals Season 2 Twitch Drops

Kicking off Season 2, Marvel Rivals is launching a Twitch Drops campaign from April 11 at 12:00 UTC to April 30 at 23:59 UTC. To claim the rewards, players must link their Marvel Rivals account to their Twitch account and watch any Marvel Rivals streams with Drops enabled.

The rewards are tiered based on watch time, offering players various in-game goodies to enhance their gaming experience.

Marvel Rivals Season 2 Going Live Soon

The latest Dev Vision has given fans a sneak peek at the upcoming Season 2 Hellfire Gala, promising shorter seasons with the introduction of one new hero per month.

Marvel Rivals will enter maintenance in preparation for Season 2 on April 11 at 9:00 UTC, expected to last approximately 2 to 3 hours.

The Season 2 update will introduce Emma Frost as a new playable character, complete with her X-Revolution and Blue Sapphire skins. A new Domination map, Hellfire Gala: Krakoa, will also be added, along with a battle pass featuring 10 new sets of heroic costumes.
