Marvel Comics is set to relaunch its iconic Star Wars series in May 2025, diving into the thrilling period following the Battle of Jakku and the conclusion of the Galactic Civil War. This new volume, penned by Alex Segura, picks up where his miniseries, Star Wars: The Battle of Jakku, left off. The series will be brought to life by the artistic talents of Phil Noto, known for his work on Star Wars: Poe Dameron, with both Noto and Leinil Yu providing covers for the eagerly awaited first issue.

Set approximately two years after the events depicted in Return of the Jedi, this series captures the galaxy in a hopeful new era. As the New Republic strives to cement its authority, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Leia Organa navigate the complexities of establishing order amidst a power vacuum ripe for exploitation by pirates, thieves, and other nefarious elements.

"Now that we've concluded the Galactic Civil War with the Battle of Jakku, we're propelling into a fresh, unexplored era filled with new threats, adversaries, and mysteries for our cherished heroes to tackle. We're blending the known with the unexpected, ensuring each issue is accessible and packed with the action and character moments fans crave," Segura shared with StarWars.com. Noto expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, "Alex's storytelling and new characters are a delight to illustrate. It's a unique opportunity to depict our classic characters in the post-Return of the Jedi era, a time not yet explored in films or TV. I'm creating new looks for them while drawing inspiration from the actors of the 80s to capture the essence of this timeline."

The first issue of this new Star Wars series will hit the shelves on May 7, 2025, perfectly timed with the annual Star Wars Day celebrations.

This launch is part of a broader initiative by Marvel to expand its Star Wars universe. Earlier in the year, in February, the publisher will introduce Star Wars: Legacy of Vader, a series that delves into Kylo Ren's journey following the events of The Last Jedi.
