IGN is excited to exclusively reveal the first trailer for the Black Torch anime, which is now officially in production at VIZ Media. The announcement was made during VIZ Media's panel at Emerald City Comic Con, and the trailer features protagonist Jiro Azuma in his stealth uniform, accompanied by his powerful mononoke companion, Rago. The teaser also hints at looming danger with a dark figure reflected in the cityscape.

For those new to the series, Black Torch was crafted by Tsuyoshi Takaki and originally serialized in Jump SQ. and Shonen Jump+ from 2017 to 2018. Here's the official synopsis to get you up to speed:

"A new era of ninja battles begins," the synopsis states. "Hailing from a long line of ninja, Jiro has been brought up by his grandfather in the ancient warrior art of the shinobi. Jiro also possesses a unique ability to communicate with the animal world. However, his life takes a dramatic turn after a mysterious encounter in the forest with an injured black cat named Rago. But Rago is no ordinary feline; he is the legendary Black Star of Doom, a mononoke with immense powers. As dark spirits swarm in the shadows, eager to exploit Rago’s abilities, the covert Bureau of Espionage steps in to combat the threat. With everyone vying for control over Rago's powers, Jiro and Rago stand ready to ignite a shinobi clash against the mononoke."
