Meta Stops Selling Quest Pro VR Headset
The Meta Quest Pro has officially been discontinued. Meta's website confirms its unavailability, following earlier announcements of its impending end-of-life. Limited stock may remain in some retail stores, but availability is dwindling.
The high price tag of $1499.99 significantly hampered the Quest Pro's adoption, unlike the more affordable Meta Quest line (ranging from $299.99 to $499.99). This lack of widespread consumer and corporate adoption led to its discontinuation.
Meta recommends the Meta Quest 3 as a superior replacement, boasting enhanced specifications at a lower cost. The Quest 3 provides an "ultimate mixed reality experience" with higher resolution, a faster refresh rate, and a more powerful processor than its predecessor. It also maintains the mixed reality functionality of the Quest Pro, allowing users to overlay virtual displays onto the real world.
The Quest 3 is lighter than the Quest Pro, offering a potentially more comfortable experience. Furthermore, the Quest Pro's Touch Pro controllers are compatible with the Quest 3. For budget-conscious consumers, the Meta Quest 2S offers a more affordable alternative with slightly reduced specifications, starting at $299.99.
