Metro 2033's "Cursed" Mission: A Comprehensive Guide

Despite its age, Metro 2033 remains a fan favorite, especially after the release of Metro Awakening. This guide focuses on the challenging "Cursed" mission, often confusing for players due to unclear objectives and the station's layout. The mission begins after the railcar journey to Turgenevskaya station (the Cursed Station).

Locating the Bomb

After reaching the defenders at the barricaded escalators, you'll learn an explosives crew went missing while attempting to collapse a tunnel, preventing nosalis attacks. Your task: find and detonate the bomb. Nosalises will attack relentlessly; retreat to the defenders for support if overwhelmed. The bomb is located at the far end of the right-hand tunnel. Avoid the ghostly shadows in the central path to prevent damage. Once you have the bomb, either proceed to the adjacent tunnel or retreat if needed.

Destroying the Tunnel

To detonate the bomb, enter the left-hand tunnel (from the defenders' perspective). A cutscene will trigger, automatically placing and lighting the fuse. Escape immediately; the blast is lethal at close range. Alternatively, a grenade or pipe bomb will achieve the same result. Note: nosalises may still enter through other routes.

Destroying the Airlock

Securing the station requires destroying an additional airlock. Locate the stairs on the right of the main platform, leading to a torchlit area. Ignore the nosalises and interact with the support columns to place a pipe bomb. Evacuate immediately after lighting the fuse. With both tunnel and airlock destroyed, proceed with Khan to the shrine room and the next mission, "Armory."
