Konami Hints at Potential Metal Gear Solid 4 Remake and Next-Gen Ports

With the anticipated release of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, speculation is swirling about the inclusion of a Metal Gear Solid 4 remake and its potential arrival on PS5, Xbox, and other platforms. Konami has fueled these rumors.

In a recent IGN interview, producer Noriaki Okamura acknowledged the significant fan interest in bringing the 2008 PS3 exclusive to modern consoles. While remaining tight-lipped about concrete plans, Okamura's statement hinted at the possibility: "We definitely are aware of this situation with MGS4," he stated. "Unfortunately, we can't really say too much at the moment with Vol. 1 containing MGS 1-3... you can probably connect the dots!"

The possibility of an MGS4 remake within Master Collection Vol. 2 is further supported by several factors. Last year's release of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 on next-gen consoles, including PC and Switch, set a precedent. Furthermore, reports surfaced of placeholder buttons for MGS4, MGS5, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker appearing on Konami's official timeline, suggesting their inclusion in the upcoming volume. IGN corroborated these reports, indicating these titles are likely candidates for Master Collection Vol. 2.

Adding fuel to the fire, David Hayter, the English voice actor for Solid Snake, hinted at his involvement in an MGS4-related project on social media last November.

While Konami remains officially silent on concrete plans for an MGS4 remake or its inclusion in Master Collection Vol. 2, the accumulating evidence strongly suggests a significant announcement is imminent. The possibility of MGS4 finally becoming playable outside the PS3 is tantalizing for long-time fans.
