Microsoft Is Developing Gears of War Collection Without Multiplayer

Renowned Windows Central editor and insider Jez Corden has confirmed reports that Microsoft is developing a Gears of War Collection. Recent rumors suggested the collection would omit multiplayer; Corden confirms this, stating competitive online play won't be included. However, cooperative gameplay and the main story campaigns will remain.

The official announcement for the Gears of War Collection may arrive as early as the upcoming Xbox Showcase in June, according to industry sources. While the specific games included are unconfirmed, speculation points towards the first three entries in the series.

Development on Gears of War: E-Day, the next mainline entry, continues using Unreal Engine 5 for PC and Xbox Series X/S. Leaks suggest a potential 2024 release, but Corden believes a 2026 release is more likely.
