Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Returns to Esports World Cup 2025

Following the apparent success of the Esports World Cup 2024, several game publishers have announced their titles' return for the 2025 edition. Garena's Free Fire was an early confirmation, and now Moonton's Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) has also been confirmed.

The 2024 World Cup featured two MLBB events: the MLBB Mid Season Cup (MSC) and the MLBB Women's Invitational. These events drew teams from around the globe to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Selangor Red Giants emerged victorious in the MSC, while Smart Omega Empress defeated Team Vitality (ending their 25-game win streak) to claim the Women's Invitational title.

A Strong Showing, But Is It Enough?

Most games from the 2024 Esports World Cup appear to be returning in 2025. However, a notable trend is the absence of truly major championship events. The inclusion of MLBB's mid-season cup, for instance, might suggest the Esports World Cup is viewed as a secondary competition rather than a primary event.

This has a double-edged effect. On the positive side, it prevents the EWC from overshadowing established leagues. Conversely, it could be seen as a less prestigious event compared to the main championships.

Despite this, fans of the participating games will undoubtedly welcome the return of so many familiar titles to this prestigious tournament.
