Rumors are swirling that Season 5 could be the final chapter for MultiVersus. According to AusilMV, a well-known insider for game leaks, if Season 5 fails to perform, it might mark the end of the game. This information stems from a supposedly reliable source, indicating that the upcoming season is a critical effort to revive the game's fortunes. While it remains a rumor, the situation appears concerning.

MultiVersus enjoyed a phenomenal launch in 2022, reaching a peak of 153,000 concurrent players on Steam. However, the game's online presence plummeted by 99% shortly thereafter, leading Warner Bros. Games to close the project in June 2023, labeling it as an "open beta test." Despite returning with updates in May 2024, the game has struggled to recapture its initial popularity.

Set to kick off in early February, Season 5 represents the developers' last-ditch effort to rekindle player interest. This season is essentially a relaunch, though the developers have chosen to describe the 2022 release as a "beta." The initial reception was overwhelmingly positive, but the decision to temporarily shut down the game in June 2023 left many players, especially those who had purchased the premium edition to support the developers, feeling disappointed.
