The story of MultiVersus is one that could easily find its place in gaming industry textbooks, alongside tales of failure like Concord. Despite its challenges, the game is set to have its own swan song with the introduction of the final two characters: Lola Bunny and Aquaman.

Amidst this, the MultiVersus community has been dealing with growing frustration, with some fans escalating their disappointment to the point of threatening the developers. In response, game director Tony Huynh issued a heartfelt message, pleading with players to refrain from directing threats at the team. He apologized to fans who never saw their favorite characters added to the game and expressed hope that they would find enjoyment in the content of the final Season 5. Huynh also took the time to clarify the complexities behind character additions, noting that his influence over these decisions was more limited than many fans might have thought.

Following the announcement of MultiVersus shutting down, some players expressed their frustration over not being able to use their in-game tokens to unlock new characters—a perk promised to those who purchased the $100 edition of the game.
