Netflix Games Roster Loses Two GTA
Netflix Games is losing two major titles next month: Grand Theft Auto III and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. This isn't a surprise; Netflix licenses games temporarily, and these titles' licenses are expiring on December 13th. A "Leaving Soon" tag will alert subscribers.
Why are these GTA games leaving?
The one-year licensing agreement between Netflix and Rockstar Games is concluding. After December 13th, these games will be removed from the Netflix Games platform. While this is happening, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas remains available.
What are the options for continued gameplay?
Players can purchase the definitive editions of GTA III and Vice City individually for $4.99 each, or the entire trilogy for $11.99 on the Google Play Store. This contrasts with the abrupt removal of other titles last year, as Netflix is providing advance notice.
Interestingly, despite the game trilogy contributing to Netflix's subscriber growth in 2023, Rockstar Games chose not to renew the license. However, there's speculation that Rockstar and Netflix might collaborate on remastered versions of Liberty City Stories, Vice City Stories, and Chinatown Wars in the future.
