Nexon Announces The Global Shutdown Of KartRider: Drift

Nexon has announced the imminent closure of the global version of KartRider: Drift, a mobile, console, and PC title launched in January 2023. This shutdown impacts all global platforms.

Asian Servers Remain Operational

The good news? The Asian versions in Taiwan and South Korea will continue. While Nexon is planning updates for these versions, specifics remain undisclosed. There's also no word on a potential global relaunch.

Shutdown Timing Uncertain

Nexon hasn't revealed a precise date for the global shutdown, but the game is still available on the Google Play Store. Players wishing to experience it before its closure later this year can still download and play.

Reasons Behind the Shutdown

Despite efforts to provide a seamless global experience, KartRider: Drift faced significant challenges. Player frustration stemmed from heavy automation, criticized for making gameplay repetitive. Technical issues, including subpar optimization on some Android devices and numerous bugs, further hampered the game's success. Ultimately, the game fell short of expectations, prompting Nexon to refocus its efforts.

Nexon's strategy now centers on the Korean and Taiwanese PC versions, aiming to revitalize the game's original concept.
