NieR: Automata's opening introduces 2B's mission. After deploying and engaging in melee combat, you'll acquire a one-handed and a two-handed sword. The latter, the Virtuous Treaty, is a powerful weapon temporarily lost after the prologue. However, it's quickly recoverable once free-roaming is enabled in the subsequent chapter.

Where To Find the Virtuous Treaty in NieR: Automata

This early-game weapon is easily accessible. After landing in the city ruins, descend to the lower area. Locate the highway to the left of the nearest access point. Climb the ruins to reach the highway and follow it back towards the factory.

Jump down to the factory and proceed along the grassy path to the main structure. An access point and stairs leading upward are situated on the left. At the top, locate the destroyed bridge (where you fought the Goliath). The Virtuous Treaty is embedded in the ground at the bridge's edge.

Your previous body, containing consumables from the prologue, is also located nearby to the right of the sword.

Typical of two-handed weapons, the Virtuous Treaty excels at wide-range attacks, dealing significant damage to multiple enemies. However, its attack speed is slow. Upgrades can potentially maximize its damage output, provided you adapt to its slower pace. Combining it with a faster weapon via heavy attacks during combos mitigates the slow speed while still leveraging its high damage. This won't allow a full combo with the Virtuous Treaty, but it adds a powerful burst within a faster-paced sequence.
