Nintendo Delays Japanese Release of Alarmo Alarm Clock Despite Global Availability

Nintendo has announced a postponement of the general retail release of its Alarmo alarm clock in Japan due to insufficient stock. The launch, originally scheduled for February 2025, is now delayed indefinitely. This decision follows unexpectedly high demand exceeding current production capabilities.

The company cites inventory issues as the reason for the delay. While the global launch is still planned for March 2025, the Japanese release will now operate under a pre-order system. This pre-order system, exclusively for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers in Japan, is slated to begin in mid-December 2024, with shipments commencing in early February 2025. Specific pre-order dates will be announced shortly.

The Alarmo, a gaming-themed alarm clock featuring iconic tunes from franchises like Super Mario, Zelda, Pikmin, Splatoon, and Ring Fit Adventure, launched globally in October 2024. Its immediate popularity led to a rapid sell-out in physical Nintendo stores in Japan and New York, along with a temporary halt to online orders, initially transitioning to a lottery system. The company is currently working to increase production to meet the high demand.
