Nintendo has recently unveiled the costs for upgrading two popular titles from their original Nintendo Switch versions to the enhanced Nintendo Switch 2 Editions: Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree. The price tag for these upgrades is notably steep, reflecting significant enhancements in these games.

For context, upgrading from the original Switch versions of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom to their Switch 2 Editions costs $9.99 each. However, NintendoLife has reported that the upgrade packs for both Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree are more than double this amount.

The Nintendo Switch 2 Enhanced Edition of Breath of the Wild boasts improved visuals and performance, achievements, and integration with the new "Zelda Notes" service available through the Nintendo Switch Online app. Owners of the original game on the Switch can access these new features by purchasing an "upgrade pack" for $10.

The Switch 2 Edition of Kirby and the Forgotten Land introduces new story content in the "Star-Crossed World". Meanwhile, Super Mario Party Jamboree’s Switch 2 Edition includes "Jamboree TV", a new feature that utilizes the Joy-Con 2's mouse controls, the Switch 2 microphone, and the separately sold Switch 2 USB-C camera. These editions also offer enhanced resolution up to 1440p in TV mode, improved frame rates, new minigames, and expanded online capabilities.

While U.S. prices on the American Nintendo eShop are not yet available—possibly influenced by President Trump's tariffs—the UK Nintendo eShop lists the upgrade pack for Kirby and the Forgotten Land at £16.99 / €19.99, which is more than twice the £7.99 / €9.99 required to upgrade either Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom. The same price is set for the Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV upgrade, suggesting a U.S. price of $19.99.

The higher upgrade price may be justified by the $80 cost of both Kirby and The Forgotten Land - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star Crossed World and Super Mario Party Jamboree - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV. These are $20 more expensive than their original Switch versions, which are priced at $59.99 each.

For those not opting for the upgrade, here are the prices for the full Nintendo Switch 2 Edition games in the U.S.:

Pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 opened on April 24, with the console still priced at $449.99. The demand has been incredibly high, leading Nintendo to warn U.S. customers that pre-order delivery on the release date is not guaranteed.
