Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Con Mouse Theory Is Looking Pretty Good Right About Now
The Nintendo Switch 2 reveal this morning has fueled speculation about Joy-Con mouse functionality. A striking scene in the reveal trailer shows detached Joy-Cons placed attachment-side down onto a surface, connecting to flat-bottomed connectors. They then smoothly glide across the surface, mimicking mouse movements. A visible slider pad on one connector further supports this theory.
Pre-reveal rumors suggested this capability, citing an internal Joy-Con sensor similar to those in computer mice. However, Nintendo remains officially silent on this feature and its implications. Fans envision applications in traditionally mouse-and-keyboard-friendly games like Civilization, while others anticipate innovative uses within Nintendo's first-party titles. The possibilities remain excitingly open.
While much about potential Switch 2 mouse support (and that mysterious new Joy-Con button) remains unknown, we do have some confirmed details.
