Nintendo has rolled out its new Virtual Game Card (VGC) system with the latest Switch update, providing users with an intriguing feature: the ability to hide their game cards from view. This functionality is perfect for those who wish to keep certain games private, away from the curious eyes of others who might access their Switch or view their game list online.

A user on X/Twitter demonstrated that Virtual Game Cards can indeed be concealed from the acquired list on Nintendo's VGC portal. When you hide games, they disappear from your public list, allowing you to maintain your privacy for any reason you see fit. I personally tested this feature and successfully hid titles like Suikoden I&II HD Remaster and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. While these games remain visible on my OLED Switch when installed or loaded, they vanish from the list once uninstalled.

Nintendo's new Virtual Game Card system is now live on the Switch, in anticipation of the Switch 2's launch. To manage your hidden games, you can navigate to your games list through the "Redownload Software" section. However, to access the list of hidden games, you'll need to visit the "Can't Find Software?" section and log into your Nintendo account. This same method applies to the Nintendo website, where hidden games are stored in a separate folder under the "Can't Find Software?" option.

If you're looking to keep specific games out of sight—perhaps for parental control reasons, like hiding titles such as Mortal Kombat or Doom—or if you just want to maintain a more discreet gaming catalog for social settings, this feature could be quite handy. However, bear in mind that the process can be a bit cumbersome; you'll need to unhide and reload games to play them again. Also, note that even when hidden, games like Suikoden I&II HD Remaster will still show up in your Play Activity when played.

With the introduction of the VGC system, the latest Switch update also includes redesigned icons, a system transfer feature in preparation for the upcoming Switch 2, and the closure of a popular game sharing loophole.
