Capcom unveils new gameplay footage for its upcoming action title, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, slated for release in 2026. The trailer, showcased at the PlayStation State of Play event, features the legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi as the protagonist.

The trailer highlights the game's dynamic sword combat and impressive boss encounters. While still over two years away, the visuals and action sequences are already generating considerable excitement.

Miyamoto Musashi's portrayal blends his historical prowess with a charismatic, even comedic, personality. Capcom describes Onimusha: Way of the Sword as a dark fantasy action game, noting that Musashi's likeness is inspired by the late Toshiro Mifune, a celebrated actor known for his samurai roles.

The game's setting is a demon-infested Kyoto, overrun by the malevolent force known as Malic, which is summoning hellish creatures into Japan. This marks the first new entry in the Onimusha series in two decades. To bridge the gap, Capcom also announced a remaster of Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, launching May 23, 2025.
