Overture DLC Unrelated to Lies of P's Final Cutscene: Director
Since the announcement of the upcoming DLC for Lies of P, titled Overture, fans have been buzzing with anticipation and speculation about the mysteries it might unveil. During the Game Developers Conference last week, IGN gained insight into one aspect that won't be clarified by the DLC: the intriguing final cutscene of the base game. For those yet to finish Lies of P, be warned: the game's ending features a cutscene hinting at the future direction of the Lies of P universe. This scene has sparked numerous theories among fans about its implications and potential connections to the DLC. However, Lies of P director Jiwon Choi has clarified that this particular cutscene is not related to the Overture DLC. He teased, "Please stay tuned for additional announcements in the future."

Neowiz has already confirmed a full sequel to Lies of P, suggesting that the mysterious cutscene might instead set the stage for Lies of P 2. Details about the sequel remain scarce, and Choi was tight-lipped about any sequel-related hints during our conversation. He emphasized Neowiz's commitment to quality, stating, "What I can certainly tell you is when we share such news or media and assets with you, you'll know for sure that we are ready to present it to you. And that follows very our strict focus on quality [amid] all the pressure that we talked about in the past. So that is the one promise that I can share with you, that when we actually share those contents with you and the news, we will be ready to share that with you."

The scene in question, which we discussed with Choi, is the Dorothy scene. We wrote about this in detail here, but to summarize: the final cutscene shows Paracelcus on a phone call, mentioning, "I will find her, for sure. Another key of ours: Dorothy." The scene then reveals the iconic striped socks and ruby slippers of Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz, hinting at a future narrative involving other public domain fairy tales. However, this won't be explored in the Overture DLC.SPOILERS END HERE.
While the Dorothy mystery remains unsolved, Choi provided some insights into what fans can expect from the Overture DLC. He suggested that players should replay the base game to uncover hints scattered throughout, which foreshadow the DLC's content: "When you play through the base game again, you'll see many hints that we scattered throughout the whole experience," Choi explained. "A lot of hints and a lot of windows into the world, and you'll be able to actually see that and experience that in expansion…There are many things that I actually wanted to accomplish when we were working on the base game. It didn't get put into the base game, and all of that, at least key elements of that are going to be included in expansion." He also noted that some fans have already pieced together parts of the puzzle, as he follows online fan theories closely and finds some to be "quite close."

Choi shared additional details about the Overture DLC, stating it should take experienced players between 15-20 hours to complete. It will become available after reaching a "certain" chapter of the game and remain accessible until the end. The DLC is described as a prequel, with the protagonist being transported back in time to Krat just before its fall. It will introduce new locations, enemies, bosses, characters, and weapons, though Choi kept the specifics under wraps to maintain the surprise for the release.
