Palworld PS5 Release Excludes Japan, Nintendo Lawsuit Likely the Reason Following its Xbox and PC release, Palworld finally arrived on PlayStation consoles, as revealed during September 2024's PlayStation State of Play. However, a significant exception exists: the PS5 launch in Japan is indefinitely delayed.

The PS5 version of Palworld launched globally as announced at the PlayStation State of Play event in September 2024. Sony even showcased a trailer featuring Palworld characters sporting Horizon Forbidden West-inspired gear.

Despite the global rollout, Japanese PlayStation gamers are currently excluded. This delay is directly linked to ongoing legal action involving Nintendo and Pokémon.

Palworld's PS5 Japan Release: An Uncertain Future

Palworld's Japanese Twitter (X) account addressed the situation, confirming the worldwide PS5 release in 68 countries and regions while apologizing to Japanese fans for the indefinite delay. They stated that a release date for Japan remains undetermined.

The reason for the delay is widely believed to be the patent infringement lawsuit filed by Nintendo and Pokémon against developer Pocketpair in Tokyo Court. The lawsuit seeks an injunction and damages, potentially halting Palworld's operations entirely. If the injunction is granted, the game could face removal from the market.
