Peter David, Renowned for Hulk and X-Factor, Passes Away
Peter David, the renowned novelist and comic book writer known for his impactful work on series like The Incredible Hulk, Young Justice, and X-Factor, has passed away at the age of 68. The confirmation of his death came from his friend and colleague, Keith R.A. DeCandido, through a post on Facebook.
Throughout his illustrious career, David left a significant mark on both Marvel and DC Comics over several decades. His most notable contribution was his 12-year run on Marvel's The Incredible Hulk, which not only redefined the dynamic between Bruce Banner and his alter ego but also earned David and artist Dale Keown the prestigious Eisner Award in 1992. Much like Frank Miller's association with Daredevil and Chris Claremont's with the X-Men, David is considered the quintessential Hulk writer, profoundly influencing the character's development.

David's creativity extended to co-creating Spider-Man 2099 and leading two distinct runs on X-Factor. His first run transformed the team into a government-sanctioned mutant strike force, while his second run reimagined them as a detective agency under the leadership of Madrox the Multiple Man.
At DC Comics, David's influence was equally felt through his work on titles such as Aquaman, Supergirl, and Young Justice. Additionally, he contributed significantly to the Star Trek universe, with his most celebrated work being the 1994 novel Q-Squared, which he wrote in both comic and prose formats.
Beyond the world of comics and novels, David's talents reached television with his involvement in shows like Babylon 5, Young Justice, and Ben 10: Alien Force. He also ventured into video game writing, contributing to titles such as Shadow Complex and Spider-Man: Edge of Time.

In recent years, David battled health issues, starting with a stroke in 2012. These challenges led family friend Graham Murphy to launch a GoFundMe campaign to support David in 2022 and again in 2025.
Peter David is survived by his wife, Kathleen O'Shea David, and their four children.
