Pokémon Scarlet and Violet rank among the best-selling titles in the franchise's history.

As reported by Serebii.net webmaster Joe Merrick and highlighted by Eurogamer, combined sales for both games have surpassed 25 million units. This makes them the highest-selling Pokémon releases since the original Pokémon Red, Green, and Blue, which sold 31.4 million copies after their 1996 debut on the Game Boy.

Scarlet and Violet's 26,790,000 sales narrowly edge out Sword and Shield's 26,720,000 copies, securing second place.

Completing the top five by sales figures are Gold and Silver with 23.7 million units, followed by Diamond and Pearl at 16.7 million.

Upon launch, Scarlet and Violet received mixed reviews, earning some of the lowest scores in the main series. Players reported technical problems, performance issues, and numerous bugs.

Our assessment at IGN echoed this sentiment, rating the games 6/10. As noted in IGN's Pokémon Scarlet and Violet review: "The open-world approach in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet points to an exciting future for the series, but this potential is undermined by the games' clearly unfinished state."

Pokémon Legends: Z-A is scheduled for release later this year. The game takes place in Lumiose City, where an urban redevelopment project aims to create a space shared by humans and Pokémon. Last October, a leak revealed unconfirmed details about several Pokémon games, including Legends Z-A. In response, Nintendo has recently subpoenaed Discord to identify the individual responsible for the "TeraLeak."
