Pokemon Shatters World Record with Epic 24-Hour Card Opening Marathon

The Pokémon Company International has achieved a new Guinness World Record, setting a new standard for the longest Pokémon TCG card unboxing livestream. On November 26th, 2024, a star-studded team of online personalities, including Serebii's Joe Merrick, PokeGirl Ranch, and Mayplaystv, embarked on a 24-hour marathon, opening over 20,000 Pokémon cards!

The event, celebrating the launch of the Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks expansion, was broadcast live on Pokémon's Twitch channel. The impressive feat involved opening 1,500 booster packs and other Pokémon products, culminating in a collection of more than 20,000 individual cards.

Peter Murphy, Senior Director of Marketing at The Pokémon Company International, expressed his excitement, stating, "It's been an incredible 24 hours of pack opening, and we're thrilled to have achieved such an ambitious GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title alongside an amazing team of content creators."

The amassed collection will be organized and donated to charities before the holidays, including Barnardo's in the UK. Furthermore, Pokémon promises additional giveaways on participating content creators' channels within the next two weeks.

Celebrating Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks

Released on November 8th, 2024, Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks transports players to the Terarium, the central location in the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC, The Indigo Disk. This expansion introduces powerful Stellar Tera Pokémon ex, such as Archaludon ex, renowned for its Metal Defender ability.

The expansion also features iconic Dragon-type Pokémon like Palkia, Dialga, Eternatus, and new additions like Alolan Exeggutor ex and Tatsugiri ex. Collectors can also find Illustration Rare and Special Illustration Rare cards featuring Alolan Dugtrio and Feebas, capturing serene ocean scenes. New Tera Pokémon ex, including Pallossand ex and Flygon ex, add exciting new strategic options for players.

Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks is also available on the Pokémon TCG Live app, offering digital players the chance to collect in-game bonuses by acquiring and battling with the latest Stellar Tera Pokémon ex.
