Rebel Wolves, a studio founded by former developers of The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, has announced their new project, The Blood of Dawnwalker. Although they are not aiming for a full AAA scale, their ambitions remain high. Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, the founder of Rebel Wolves, emphasized their goal to achieve the quality of The Witcher 3 but on a smaller, more manageable scale:

“We want AAA quality, like The Witcher 3—that’s our heritage. But as a small studio on our first project, we’re creating something more compact yet just as polished.”

The game is designed to take approximately 30-40 hours to complete, which Tomaszkiewicz contrasts with the extensive playtime of The Witcher 3:

“Comparing anything to The Witcher 3, which was meant to last 100+ hours but often exceeded 200-300 hours, is crazy. But is size what makes a game AAA? Call of Duty is AAA without a massive campaign. So, does scale really matter?”

He further questioned the relevance of industry labels such as “AAA” and “AAAA,” suggesting they hold little meaning. The Blood of Dawnwalker is an action RPG that follows the journey of a half-vampire tasked with saving his loved ones within a 30-day and 30-night time frame. Despite the time limit, the game promises a smooth and engaging experience. Developed using Unreal Engine 5, it will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, although a specific release date has not yet been announced.
