This sales surge was likely driven by the Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition in February 2023, followed by the iOS version of the remake later that year.

The enduring popularity of this landmark horror title comes as no surprise, especially since Resident Evil 4 recently reached 8 million sales. Launched in March 2023, the remake of the 2005 classic follows Leon S. Kennedy as he battles a mysterious cult to rescue Ashley Graham, the president's daughter. This installment marked a significant evolution in gameplay, embracing action elements while distancing itself from the series' survival horror foundations.

Sales milestones were revealed through Capcom's official Dev1 Twitter account, which shared celebratory artwork featuring characters like Ada, Krauser, Saddler, Salazar, and Bitores Mendez enjoying a bingo game with snacks. The recent PS5 Pro enhancement update has also given the game renewed visibility among players.

Resident Evil 4 Continues Breaking Records

Since its debut, Resident Evil 4 has become the fastest-selling entry in the franchise, according to Alex Aniel, author of "Itchy, Tasty: An Unofficial History of Resident Evil." For comparison, Resident Evil Village had sold approximately 500,000 copies by its eighth quarter.
