James Gunn and Peter Safran have officially announced that a new Batman will be introduced in the DCU with the film *The Brave and the Bold*, explicitly stating that Robert Pattinson will not be reprising his role as Batman in this new universe. Instead, Pattinson is set to continue his portrayal of the Dark Knight solely within Matt Reeves' *The Batman Epic Crime Saga*.

During a DC Studios presentation attended by IGN, Gunn made it clear: "It's certainly not the plan. No," when asked about Pattinson potentially crossing over into the DCU. Safran echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the necessity of introducing a new Batman for the DCU, stating, "And we love him, but we've got to introduce a Batman into the DCU. That's imperative. And so that's the plan with The Brave and the Bold."

The speculation around Pattinson's potential involvement across the DCU was fueled earlier this year by comments from Reeves, who seemed open to the idea. However, Reeves clarified his focus on the *The Batman Epic Crime Saga* and the upcoming *The Batman Part 2*, saying, "It really comes down to whether or not it makes sense... What’s been great is there was a story that I wanted to tell with what we’re calling The Epic Crime Saga and all that, which is the thrust of what we want to do."

Safran expressed enthusiasm for Reeves' vision for *The Batman Part 2*, noting that while the script is still in progress, "what we've read so far is very encouraging." Meanwhile, *The Brave and the Bold* is in "very active development," with Gunn and Safran deeply involved in crafting the script. They plan to present it to *The Flash* director Andy Muschietti to see if he's interested in directing. Safran hinted that more details about *The Brave and the Bold* will be announced soon.

The release of *The Batman Part 2* has been pushed back to October 1, 2027, marking a five-year gap since the first film. When asked about the potential release window for *The Brave and the Bold*, Safran simply stated, "Well, I think we've announced October, 2027 there will be a Batman movie. That is all we can tell you right now."

While fans eagerly await *The Brave and the Bold* to see Gunn's take on Batman, a brief glimpse of the character was shown in Episode 6 of *Creature Commandos*, where Batman was depicted standing on a rooftop, observing crime boss Doctor Phosphorus. This image, while generic, confirmed Batman's presence in the DCU during the events of *Creature Commandos* and the upcoming *Superman* movie. Gunn explained that this was intentional, as he wanted to maintain a silhouette and avoid revealing too much about his Batman too soon.
