Rumor: One of the Biggest Xbox Franchises Reportedly Coming to Switch 2, PS5
Halo and Microsoft Flight Simulator Rumored for PS5 and Switch 2 Release
A recent report from industry insider NateTheHate suggests that Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Microsoft Flight Simulator are in development for PlayStation 5 and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Both titles are reportedly slated for a 2025 release. This follows Microsoft's February 2024 initiative to expand its first-party game availability to platforms beyond Xbox.
Microsoft's multi-platform strategy began with titles like Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush, Grounded, and Sea of Thieves. As Dusk Falls, while not developed internally, also transitioned to multi-platform release after an initial Xbox exclusivity period. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 launched on other platforms in October 2024, with Indiana Jones and the Great Circle expected to follow on PS5 in Spring 2025.
NateTheHate's report indicates that Halo: The Master Chief Collection, a six-game compilation, is earmarked for both PS5 and Switch 2 in 2025. He also predicts a similar multi-platform release for a Microsoft Flight Simulator title, likely MFS 2024, which launched November 19, 2024.
This information is further supported by leaker Jez Corden, who tweeted that significantly more Xbox games will be released on PS5 and Switch 2 in 2025. Corden believes the era of exclusive Xbox titles is effectively over.
The future multi-platform expansion of the Call of Duty franchise is also practically guaranteed, thanks to a ten-year agreement with Nintendo. The lack of Switch titles to date may be attributed to Microsoft awaiting the release of the more powerful Switch 2, better suited for the demands of modern Call of Duty titles.
