Genshin Impact Version 5.4 Rumored to Feature Wriothesley Rerun After Over a Year

A recent leak suggests Wriothesley's long-awaited rerun in Genshin Impact may finally arrive in Version 5.4, over a year after his initial release. This highlights the ongoing challenge for Genshin Impact to balance its ever-expanding roster of over 90 playable characters with the limited rerun slots available on Event Banners. Even with the introduction of the Chronicled Banner, designed to alleviate this issue, the wait times for some characters remain excessively long. Shenhe, for example, waited over 600 days for her rerun.

The current system, with an average of one new 5-star character per patch, creates an impossible scenario. There are far more characters needing reruns annually than available banner slots, leading to extended delays. Until the developers implement triple banners, these long waits are likely to persist.

Wriothesley, a Cryo Catalyst introduced in Version 4.1, exemplifies this problem. His absence from Event Banners since November 8, 2023, has left many players eager for his return. The leak, originating from Flying Flame, indicates his inclusion in Version 5.4's Event Banners. While Flying Flame's leak record is mixed, the recent Spiral Abyss buff favorably impacting Wriothesley's gameplay lends some credence to the rumor.

Version 5.4 is also anticipated to introduce Mizuki, potentially Inazuma's first Standard Banner character. If both Mizuki and Wriothesley are featured on Event Banners, the remaining 5-star is likely to be either Furina or Venti, as they are the only Archons yet to receive a sequential rerun. Version 5.4 is tentatively scheduled for launch on February 12, 2025. Genshin Impact players should approach this information cautiously, but the possibility of a Wriothesley rerun certainly generates excitement.
