If you're aiming for the best ending in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, one crucial task is saving Sam. Knowing where to find him and how to rescue him is essential for achieving that perfect conclusion.

Rescuing Sam During "Reckoning"

As you approach the end of the main quest line, you'll discover that Sam is being held captive at Praguer’s Camp. He was captured by Brabant, and your chance to save him comes during the main quest "Reckoning." To infiltrate the camp, you have two primary options: stealth or violence.

To move around the camp without arousing suspicion, you'll need a guard's outfit. You can obtain one by killing a guard and stealing his attire, then hiding the body, or by looting one from the numerous chests scattered around the camp. Once you have the outfit equipped, you can freely explore the camp to locate Sam.

Sam is located in a barn on the left side of the camp, past the open area with a cooking fire. To enter, use the ladder on the side of the barn and drop down inside, where you'll interrupt Brabant. Here, you have the choice to kill or spare Brabant. Sparing him contributes to achieving the best ending, but the decision is yours.

When to Rescue Sam

After freeing Sam, it's not yet time to leave the camp with him. Sam will inform you about von Aulitz, who is also in the camp. It's advisable to deal with von Aulitz first, then secure a horse, and finally return to Sam to escort him out. Sam can wait safely while you complete these tasks, and this order makes everything smoother, especially since you'll need to carry him to the horse.

Von Aulitz is found in the main part of the camp. With the guard outfit, the guards outside his door will allow you in without question. Upon finding von Aulitz, who is already dying, he'll ask for a dignified death. Granting this request is the most honorable choice. Alternatively, you can choose to kill him cruelly or leave him to die slowly. Notably, leaving him to die actually contributes to the best ending.

Once you've dealt with von Aulitz, return to Sam in the barn where you left him. If a guard questions your actions with Sam, simply tell them you're moving the body, which will clear any suspicion. Then, head to the gates and exit the camp, turning right to follow the perimeter.

As you follow the camp's perimeter, you'll reach the stables. Choose a horse and escape with Sam, bringing you one step closer to completing the main quests in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*.
