'Last of Us' Season 2 Premieres in [Month]
HBO's "The Last of Us" Season 2: April Premiere Confirmed, New Trailer Unveiled
Sony's CES 2025 showcase brought exciting news for fans of HBO's post-apocalyptic drama: Season 2 will premiere in April! The announcement included a new trailer offering glimpses of Kaitlyn Dever as Abby and the memorable Dina (Isabela Merced) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) dance scene.
While based on the events of "The Last of Us Part 2," the seven-episode season likely won't be a complete adaptation of the game's sequel. Co-creator Craig Mazin previously hinted that Part 2's story arc might span three seasons. The trailer itself, clocking in at just over a minute, features rapid-fire action sequences and emotionally resonant moments, culminating in the reveal of an April premiere date via a red flare. This confirms the previously announced Spring 2025 release window, narrowing it down from the March-June timeframe. A specific premiere date remains unannounced.
The new trailer, while largely comprised of previously seen footage, also includes fresh shots of Dever's Abby and the iconic dance scene, along with a chilling opening alarm sequence. Speculation continues regarding Catherine O’Hara's role, while some fans have noted the trailer's use of Roman numerals, mirroring the sequel's style. The possibility of a new, unannounced cast member has also surfaced online.
Season 2 builds upon Season 1's success, which introduced original characters like Kathleen (Melanie Lynskey) and Perry (Jeffrey Pierce), alongside Florence (Elaine Miles) and Marlon (Graham Greene). However, anticipation remains high for the live-action appearances of characters from Part 2, including Jesse (Young Mazino) and the return of Jeffrey Wright as Isaac Dixon, reprising his voice acting role from the game.
