Should You Side With Semine or Hashek in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2? (Necessary Evil Quest Guide Best Outcome)
In *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, the main story quest "Necessary Evil" presents players with some of the most challenging moral decisions in the game. Here's a detailed guide to help you navigate the quest and make informed choices about siding with Semine or Hashek.
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Necessary Evil Quest Walkthrough
After completing the main quest "Back in the Saddle," you can start "Necessary Evil" in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*. In this quest, von Bergow assigns Hans and Henry to gather intelligence from Nebakov Fortress and interrogate a prisoner. The outcome of the interrogation significantly influences whether von Bergow targets Semine or Nebakov Fortress. This guide focuses on the path where you choose Semine, which leads to more complex decision-making.
Prisoner Interrogation Answers

During the interrogation, you'll need to pass several Speech checks. You can opt to threaten the prisoner or use torture instruments to extract information. Here are the Speech check options and their requirements:
- “We’ll put in a good word for you.” (20 Impression)
- “Istvan and I are old acquaintances.” (20 Impression)
- “Otherwise, it’ll end badly for you.” (17 Intimidation)
After the interrogation, you'll uncover the identity of the bandit leader and Semine's involvement. When reporting to von Bergow, you can either reveal that Young Semine is collaborating with the bandits, leading to an attack on the town, or claim that no one assisted the bandits, resulting in an attack on Nebakov.
Should You Attack Semine or Nebakov?
Choosing to attack Semine involves riding with the party to confront more challenging decisions with Hashek. Opting for Nebakov means von Bergow will handle the bandits there, concluding the "Necessary Evil" quest immediately.
Attacking Nebakov might be the better choice if you wish to avoid the bloodshed at Semine. However, morally, letting Semine go unpunished is problematic, given his role in numerous innocent deaths. Personally, attacking Semine felt like the right decision, despite having formed connections with its residents earlier in the game.
If you decide to attack Semine, it's crucial to ride with the party. Falling behind could lead to the town's complete destruction. Accompanying them offers a chance to help Semine.
Should You Side With Semine or Hashek?

Before setting out, you can discuss with Hashek, who clearly seeks revenge on Semine and favors a violent approach.
Upon reaching Semine, you must choose between siding with Semine or Hashek. To align with Hashek, select the dialogue option “Hashek is right.” To support Semine, choose “Olda deserves a trial.”
I recommend siding with Semine. While his actions were wrong, Hashek's desire to burn everything down would lead to more innocent deaths. Playing Henry as a morally upright character, it made sense to prevent Hashek's rampage.
After defeating Hashek, advise the Semines to burn their estate and flee, which will advance the quest to the next objective of reporting back to von Bergow.
If you side with Hashek, the entire town will be killed. You can also locate Olda in the tower and decide his fate—whether to spare him or hand him over to Hashek.
Should You Tell von Bergow or Let Hans Talk?
The final part of the quest involves Henry and Hans reporting to von Bergow. You can either remain silent and let Hans handle the conversation or have Henry disclose the events at Semine.
It's advisable to stay silent and let Hans speak. His diplomatic skills keep both men in von Bergow's favor, leading to plans for addressing the situation at Nebakov.
This covers everything you need to know about the choice between Semine and Hashek in the "Necessary Evil" quest in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*. For more tips and insights, including romance options and where to find Goatskin, be sure to check out The Escapist.
