Ubisoft is steering Skull and Bones towards an ambitious Year 2, promising to make it the most expansive yet for this pirate-themed multiplayer game. The upcoming year will feature significant content updates, including new game modes, ships, the introduction of a Kraken, and a much-anticipated feature—land combat.

During a special Year 2 showcase that premiered recently, Ubisoft unveiled its roadmap for the next year. The presentation was filled with exciting content, but it's Season 3: Guts and Glory that's set to introduce the long-awaited land combat feature. Players have been eager for this addition since the game's debut in February last year.

In Season 3, launching this fall, players will finally experience action beyond the waves. This new feature allows for swordfights and gun battles on land, integrated into the Rogue Warlord additions. Players will explore sandy beaches and damp caves to rescue skilled crew members known as Officers. A teaser video offered a glimpse into what to expect, though full details will be revealed later this year.

While land combat is the highlight of Skull and Bones Year 2, the roadmap is packed with other exciting updates throughout 2025. Season 1: Ascent into Chaos, which kicks off today, April 15, introduces an item ascension feature for enhanced loot, challenging World Tiers, a new Schooner medium ship, and the team-based Death Tides PvP mode. Season 2: Oaths of War, set for summer 2025, will bring Megaforts and the massive Frigate large ships. Finally, Season 4: Eye of the Beast, launching this winter, will feature the Kraken, Hunter’s Guild, and the Corvette large ship.

Notably, the release of Skull and Bones also saw a 200% surge in players for Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag.
