Revealed a year ago, Smite 2 promises to be a worthy sequel to the beloved third-person MOBA. Developed using Unreal Engine 5, Smite 2 offers an enhanced experience over its predecessor, with refined visuals, improved combat mechanics, and a revamped item shop that allows for more flexibility in item choices regardless of a god's classification. In Smite 2, players continue to embody gods from various cultures, engaging in 5v5 battles to siege the enemy team. Following the closed alpha, the game is now accessible to everyone.

As of January 14, players can download Smite 2's open beta for free on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (via Epic Games Store and Steam), and Steam Deck. The new update introduces a wealth of content, including Aladdin, a god uniquely designed for Smite 2. Aladdin can run along walls and even revive after death, thanks to his companion's ability to grant him three wishes. True to his legendary tale, Aladdin's ultimate ability allows him to use his lamp to capture enemies and force them into a 1v1 fight.

In addition to Aladdin, the Smite 2 roster expands with Geb, the Egyptian God of Earth; Mulan, the Chinese Ascendant Warrior; Agni from the Hindu Pantheon; and Ullr from the Norse Pantheon. The open beta also reintroduces the beloved Joust game mode, where players compete on a smaller 3v3 map. Both the Conquest map and the Assault game mode are included in the open beta.

Titan Forge Games’ creative director has stated that Smite 2 surpasses the original Smite in numerous aspects. The developer expressed gratitude for the feedback received during the closed alpha, which helped refine Smite 2, and promised "ambitious content" to be released in 2025.

While Smite 2 is available on most major platforms, Nintendo Switch users will not be able to play the game due to concerns about the console's ability to run it smoothly.
