Kojima Productions and Sony unveiled the much-anticipated release date for Death Stranding 2: On The Beach (DS2) during the South by Southwest (SXSW) event on March 9, 2025, in Austin, Texas. The panel, led by DS2 Director Hideo Kojima, kicked off with an engaging 10-minute trailer that offered glimpses into new story elements and gameplay. The trailer emphasized the ongoing theme of human connectivity in a post-apocalyptic setting, a hallmark of the Death Stranding series.

Kojima was joined by PlayStation’s Global Content Communications Manager Kristen Zitan, and actors from the game, including Norman Reedus reprising his role as Sam Porter Bridges, Troy Baker, and the French Music Director and Designer Woodkid. The trailer introduced a compelling new character, Neil, portrayed by Luca Marinelli, who leads a mysterious faction. Fans were quick to note Neil's uncanny resemblance to Metal Gear's Solid Snake, particularly due to his similar headband.
