Sony Unveils The Last of Us Part II Remastered PC Specs and New Content for No Return Mode

Sony has recently announced the PC specifications for The Last of Us Part II Remastered, set to release on April 3, alongside details about new content for No Return Mode on both PC and PlayStation 5. In a detailed post on the PlayStation Blog, Naughty Dog, in collaboration with Nixxes Software and Iron Galaxy, highlighted the enhancements and features coming to the PC version, which follows a year after its PS5 release.

The Last of Us Part II Remastered PC Features:

• VSync and framerate cap options, including an uncapped framerate option

The PC version also supports ultrawide monitors, allowing gameplay in 21:9 ultra-wide, 32:9 super ultra-wide, and even 48:9 resolutions, compatible with triple-monitor setups. Players can enjoy the game in 4K resolution with various controllers, including keyboard and mouse, and benefit from 3D audio.

Keyboard and mouse controls come with new customization options, including full control remapping, primary and secondary bindings, and an adaptive mode for combining keyboard and controller inputs. DualSense controllers offer full haptic feedback. Sony emphasized that the game's wide range of graphics settings and presets ensures an optimal experience across various hardware, from high-end PCs to handheld gaming devices.

The Last of Us Part 2 PC Specs:

Moving to No Return mode, Sony announced the addition of two new characters from The Last of Us Part I: Bill and Marlene. Bill, a "Smuggler" playstyle, can access a custom pump shotgun from dead drops and receives double rewards from drops, but cannot dodge. Marlene, with a "Risk Taker" playstyle, comes equipped with a Custom Assault Rifle, "All or Nothing" gambits, and the ability to reroute her No Return path once per run.

Four new maps are being introduced to No Return mode: Overlook, School, Streets, and Nest. Each map offers unique environments and challenges, ranging from the high-altitude cityscape of Seattle to an abandoned elementary school and an Infected-infested building.

All the new No Return content, along with new Trophies and bug fixes, will be available on PS5 simultaneously with the PC launch through a free downloadable 2.0.0 patch.

In line with Sony's recent policy shift, The Last of Us 2 Remastered on PC features an optional PSN log-in. Logging in to PSN grants access to the PlayStation overlay, PSN Trophies, 50 in-game points for bonus features, and a new skin for Ellie featuring Jordan A. Mun’s jacket from Naughty Dog's upcoming PS5 game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. PS5 players can also unlock this skin through the 2.0 patch using in-game bonus points.

In related news, The Last of Us director Neil Druckmann shared insights into Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet during an interview with Alex Garland. Druckmann discussed the game's focus on faith and religion, set in an alternate historical timeline, and highlighted Tati Gabrielle's role as Jordan A. Mun.

The PC release of The Last of Us 2 Remastered comes ahead of Season 2 of HBO's acclaimed TV adaptation, where showrunners Druckmann and Craig Mazin have confirmed the return of spores, which were omitted from the first season.
