This aggressive growth strategy includes a significant increase in editorial staff to approximately 1,000, boosting efficiency without overworking employees. President Takeshi Natsuno highlights a "media mix strategy," expanding IP reach through anime and game adaptations.

The collaboration benefits Sony, owner of Crunchyroll, by adding Kadokawa's extensive IP library—including titles like Bungo Stray Dogs, Oshi no Ko, and The Rising of the Shield Hero—to its streaming platform. Sony's interest in multimedia expansion, encompassing live-action adaptations and international distribution, further strengthens the partnership.

Kadokawa's intermediate goal is 7,000 titles by fiscal year 2025, demonstrating a phased approach to their ambitious target. The partnership aims to create a system where diverse content leads to significant successes.

Kadokawa's portfolio also includes popular video game IPs developed by companies under its umbrella, such as Elden Ring, Dragon Quest, the Danganronpa series, and Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story.
