New Need For Speed won't come out in the nearest future

EA's Vice President, Vince Zampella, recently provided an update on the status of the Need for Speed franchise. With over two years having passed since the release of NFS Unbound, EA remains quiet on the series' future.

This silence is explained by Criterion Games' current commitment to the next Battlefield installment. Zampella emphasized that this new Battlefield title is EA's top priority, with development heavily influenced by player feedback. The project involves a collaborative effort across four studios, reflecting EA's significant investment.

Zampella's previous comments highlighted a desire to avoid repeating the missteps of Battlefield 2042, which faced considerable criticism at launch. This player-centric approach extends to future content for NFS Unbound.

It's highly probable that EA will refocus on Need for Speed only after the launch and initial post-release support of the new Battlefield game. This delay might prove beneficial. Recent NFS entries haven't entirely satisfied fans. A strategic reboot, prioritizing player feedback and allowing time for past disappointments to fade, could be a shrewd approach.
