Spider-Man 4 Postponed to Avoid Clash with 'The Odyssey'

The highly anticipated fourth Spider-Man film, starring Tom Holland, has been pushed back a week, now slated for release on July 31st, 2026. This adjustment to Sony's release calendar likely aims to provide more separation from Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, which will now precede it by two weeks instead of one.

This scheduling change benefits both films, potentially allowing for wider IMAX releases, a preference well-known to Christopher Nolan. The delay also gives Spider-Man 4 more room to breathe in the box office. This is particularly advantageous considering Tom Holland's involvement in both projects.

Marvel confirmed the fourth Spider-Man installment as the next MCU film after Avengers: Doomsday (May 1st, 2026). Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi) will direct, taking the reins after storyline shifts within the MCU altered plans for the next Avengers film. Interestingly, the Russo Brothers have returned to helm Avengers: Doomsday, with Robert Downey Jr. surprisingly cast as Doctor Doom.
