Initiating the "For Science!" Side Quest

To begin "For Science!", locate Yaryk Mongoose within the Central Elevator area of the Chemical Plant. Upon approaching, Mongoose will contact Skif via radio, requesting a meeting at the building. Enter the Central Elevator, proceed left past the conveyor belts, ascend the rusted stairs, and vault the railing to reach Mongoose on the first floor.

Mongoose will explain the need to activate a second device atop a nearby silo, requiring simultaneous activation of both devices. Agreeing to his request officially starts the "For Science!" mission.

Reaching the Silo's Summit

Exit the room and climb to the building's roof. Eliminate any rodents encountered. Access the exterior via a window and descend using the external ladder.

Jump to the connecting walkway leading to the silos. Equip your bolt-action weapon to counter the electro anomalies present. Proceed left along the silo's top to locate and activate the second measuring device.

Activating the device will attract a group of Bloodsuckers. Choose to eliminate them or evade them to reach Mongoose.

Confronting Yaryk Mongoose

Upon confronting Mongoose, he'll explain the experiment's unforeseen consequences. Players can choose to kill Mongoose for endangering Skif's life or accept the reward and depart. Neither choice impacts the game's progression significantly. Killing Mongoose allows looting the Malachite pass from his corpse.

However, the recommended approach involves listening to Mongoose's explanation and selecting the peaceful option. This yields the Malachite Pass and some additional rewards. The pass grants access to the STC Malachite base, unless already accessible through the main storyline.
