The recent announcement that *Star Wars: Hunters* will shut down before its first anniversary has left fans pondering whether celebrating a dying game's milestone is worthwhile. Despite the impending closure, the game will indeed celebrate its one-year anniversary before the final shutdown.

When Is the Star Wars: Hunters Shutdown?

Zynga, the game's developer and publisher, is set to release a final content update on April 15th, introducing Tuya, the last new Support Hunter, available for free. In-game purchases will be disabled on the same day.

Ranked Mode will remain active until the servers go offline, and seasonal events will be rerun. Players with unspent Crystals should use them before the shutdown, as no refunds will be issued.

It Isn’t Shocking

While the news is disappointing, the shutdown of *Star Wars: Hunters* isn't entirely surprising. The game faced numerous challenges from the outset, including multiple delays after its initial announcement in 2020. Beta tests were limited to the SEA and ANZAC regions, and the game's launch lacked support on major consoles. The lukewarm reception it received upon release didn't help its case.

From a design perspective, the game missed an opportunity to capitalize on the rich tapestry of iconic Star Wars characters, opting instead for generic original characters. This choice might have alienated fans expecting to see familiar faces from the Star Wars universe.
